EXCLUSIVE: Interview with FERNANDA MARTINS

PV

First of all, good day on behalf of the entire Project Vojarna team!

Your connection with the crowd is always electric. How do you prepare mentally and musically for events?

FERNANDA

Hello PV team! I prepare both ways. I always add new tunes to each set list and try to add some old-school tracks to all of them. So, every week, I do a music search. It’s also important to prepare mentally, but most important for me is to arrive at the event and, being on-site, try to read the vibe of the crowd to have an idea of which track to open the session and how to lead the crowd through a trip into my music style.

Techno often transcends just music, becoming a cultural movement. What message do you hope to convey through your performances?

FERNANDA

Techno is, or at least should be a very inclusive scene. I want everyone to feel welcome and be part of what I’m doing, and of course, as the music I play is very “tough,” I want everyone to sweat their stress out when they are on my dancefloor.

Your high-energy performances have inspired fans worldwide. What can the audience at ‘Hangar 303’ expect from your set?

FERNANDA

Powerful beats to make them dance playfully! Because I want everyone to leave the party legless but with a smile on their faces 🙂

Techno continues to evolve, and you’ve been a significant part of its journey. What’s your vision for the future of the genre?

FERNANDA

Being on this scene for 2 decades and seeing so many times how things change, trends sometimes come back with some variation; the only thing I know for sure is that techno will keep evolving, and this is vital for techno lovers like me to keep motivation and evolve together with the style, and together with the new generations that are coming now to the scene (as artists or music lovers) and with the ones that will come.

As a trailblazing artist in the techno scene, what advice do you have for aspiring DJs looking to make their mark?

FERNANDA

Add your contribution to this beautiful history by knowing, understanding, and respecting the past. There is a lot you can learn from people who built it all when Techno was not accepted as a music style or was marginalized for so long. Get inspired by people who care about music because good music will always last while “look” trends are ephemeral; bet on the essence of it all, and you will always find your space while leaving your mark.
